Five Convenient Drop Off Options (See Below)

Grace Lutheran Church has a tradition of collecting items for those in need during Advent and Christmas. This year, Grace Church, along with the Crestwood Citizens Association, invite you to join us in our Holiday Diaper Drive to benefit the Greater DC Diaper Bank.

Do you have extra diapers that your child has outgrown?
Can you pick up an extra pack when you do your regular diaper run or order?

Did you know there is a great need for disposable diapers in the DC metropolitan area? 
Here are some reasons why: 

  • 1 in 3 families in our area suffers from diaper need and therefore struggles to maintain an adequate supply of diapers for their child.

  • Families that are not able to afford an adequate supply of clean diapers often must leave their babies in a single diaper all day, which can result in diaper rash and other detrimental health issues.

  • Excessive crying, often the result of diaper rash or discomfort, is the number one cause of child abuse.

  • An average monthly supply of diapers costs approximately $80. The only federal assistance program that can be used for diapers is TANF, but TANF has to cover many other expenses, including heat, electric and water bills, rent, clothing, transportation, and other basic needs. Little if any money is available to purchase enough diapers to keep a baby clean, dry, and healthy.

Diaper Donation

All sizes of disposable diapers are needed, and the Diaper Bank is *always* in need of larger sizes (size 4 and up - size 5s are their biggest need). And, if your child is moving from one size diaper to another and you have an open pack/box, we’ll take open packs/boxes! 

If you're bringing an open box, please label the diapers with the diaper size and number of diapers.

Baby Pantry Item Donations

The Diaper Bank also accepts formula, diaper wipes, and diaper cream as well -- all of these items need to unopened and unexpired (feel silly writing that but they received a lot of open and expired formula!).

Where To Donate

 - Drop off at Grace Lutheran Church - 4300 16th Street, NW. Please contact Pastor Wendy by email or at (202) 829-9400 to schedule a drop off time; OR

- Pastor Wendy will pick them up from your home! Please contact her at the email or phone number above to coordinate pickup; OR

- Bring the items to the Crestwood Citizens Association Santa Meet & Greet on December 17, the Annual Crestwood Holiday Party on December 23, or to Holiday Caroling on Christmas Eve.
