Please plan to join your fellow neighbors from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 5th, for a cleanup of the woods and streamside along the Piney Branch section of Rock Creek. The cleanup is part of the 20th annual Potomac River Cleanup. Volunteers will be at hundreds of sites in DC, MD, VA, PA and WV within the Potomac watershed.
We will meet at 9 a.m. at the picnic area on the north side of Piney Branch Road, between Arkansas Avenue and Beach Drive, within Rock Creek Park. The site can be reached from 16th Street by turning east on Arkansas and then taking the next right onto Piney Branch. The site can also be reached from Beach Drive within the Park. Piney Branch intersects with Beach Drive, south of the Park/Tilden intersection and north of the Porter Road intersection. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. The clean up is being sponsored by the Crestwood Citizens Association's Green Team, www.crestwood-dc.org, and Friends of Rock Creek's Environment (FORCE), www.friendsofrockcreek.org in partnership with the National Park Service.
